The very first step in getting your new set of teeth is determining if you’re a good candidate for this procedure. During your consultation, we’ll assess your overall health and the condition of your teeth and gums. We may take some individual x-rays of your teeth, as well as some digital photos and a couple of dental impressions of a 3-D digital scan. Most importantly, we’ll take a cat scan that will show us your bone, nerves, and other anatomy as we examine them to determine if you’re a good fit for this procedure. If we decide that you can in fact have this procedure done successfully, then you’ll return for the surgery on a different day.
On the day of your implant placement, we’ll remove any remaining teeth that you have and place the implants within the bone. Once that step is complete, we’ll fit you with a temporary denture that you’ll wear while your implants are in their integration stage. Typically, it takes three months or so for your implants to be completely fused within the bone. When they do, you’ll come in and we can prepare them to support your permanent appliance.
